A Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student who was shot for trying to forcefully access State House has now said he wanted to save the jobless youths in the country.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, Bera Brian said he was perturbed by the situation of the jobless youths before he decided to walk to State House without permission from the management.
He also urged the court to ask his father not to interfere with his life because he is mature, adding that he can make his own decisions.
The suspect further noted that he is not ready to be taken to a mental facility because he has no problem, adding that he is afraid of going to a medical mental camp because he “can kill the doctors’.
The magistrate, however, said that the suspect still requires medical attention after he was freed.
“The accused still requires medical attention and therefore he is still not fit to take a plea,” the magistrate said as quoted by Citizen.
The magistrate has instructed that the student should be placed under medication for two months.
The incident elicited mixed reactions from different factions. Kenyans on social media asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to reconsider the arrest of the student.
