Just hours after State House meeting last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta cancelled Jubilee party PG despite having agreed with his Deputy William Ruto, reports the Sunday Nation.
The five-hour intense meeting was to cure among others, divisions within the ruling party which threatens service delivery.
"In the meeting, they agreed to hold a PG on Tuesday to have members discuss the differences," a source said.
But the Tuesday's planned PG was cancelled after Uhuru reportedly thought it could expose the party to more differences thus curtail his leadership.
Besides averting a major fallout from the PG, a source said, Uhuru called off the meeting until parliament passes 2018/19 estimates.
"The president thought it was imprudent to hold a meeting without ascertaining loyalty of some Jubilee MPs. This was a strategy to have the budget passed first."
Apparently, two camps have emerged within Jubilee with those allied to the DP accusing State House of hiding in lifestyle audit to curtail Ruto's 2022 chances.
And in response, MPs allied to Uhuru have often accused Ruto's camp of blackmailing the president by opposing the fight against graft.
