Kenya Power will today (Tuesday) shut down the prepaid system across the country.
The services will be unavailable from 11pm until 6pm on Wednesday April 10.
According to the company, the move is to help them transfer of customer data to a new hardware.
“During the shutdown, prepaid customers will not be able to purchase tokens from Kenya Power’s banking halls, prepaid pay bill number 888880 and through all other prepaid vending channels. However, the shutdown will not affect customers on the postpaid service,” read a statement from Kenya Power released to newsrooms on Monday.
Customers are advised to ensure they load their tokens before the shutdown starts to avoid any inconvenience.
“The Company has notified customers of the planned shutdown and urged them to purchase tokens before commencement of the exercise to avoid any inconveniences,” KP added.
Customers whose tokens will not have been loaded will not access the services until tomorrow.
To avoid last minute frustrations, checking tokens to see if they need a top-up will be a good measure for clients.
Kenya Power added that the move is meant to upgrade the quality of their services.
