Migori Governor Okoth Obado will spend the night behind bars after he was arrested in Kisumu Tuesday evening.
The governor, who was being grilled at the Nyanza Regional DCI offices over the murder of Sharon Otieno, was whisked away to Nairobi by detectives.
A Nyanza-based journalist told this writer that Obado was speedily driven to Kisumu airport for a Nairobi-bound flight.
"He is at the airport with detectives. An investigator told me they will charge him tomorrow in Nairobi," he said.
A source in Nairobi said the governor will 'most probably' spend the night at Kiambu or Githunguri police station.
"In the morning he will be at the CID headquarters before being charged," the source privy to investigations said.
The governor is being linked to the murder of which took place on Monday last week.
His Personal Assistant Michael Oyamo is also behind bars in connection to the murder.
Kenyans on social media chided the governor over the arrest and spending night in jail by starting 'Obado challenge' on social media.
