Panic has engulfed students and staff of Garissa university following reports that the academic institution is set to close any time from now.

The institution, which is now facing a sharp financial crisis, is yet to pay its staff and suppliers alike.

According to a statement issued by the university maanagement, the college is only relying from donations from the government, falure to which it will have no other option but to shut down and sent their students home.

 "The Garissa University owes its suppliers and other service providers an amount of over KSh84 million,” an administrator who spoke to a local media house on Friday  said. 

“Suppliers are now threatening not to offer their services until all the debts are cleared," he added.

The institution is now banking on the government grant to finance its programs.
