Governor John Nyagarama could yet again be tasked to explain reasons that propelled his Personal Assistant to chair a powerful meeting at the Governor's boardroom.
Mr Samuel Abuga, the PA to Governor John Nyagarama, on Thursday chaired powerful Opening Tenders Committee amid concerns over impunity and maladministration in the county government.
Activist Vincent Omao bashed the county government leadership, arguing that the aide cannot sit in the committee according to the law.
"Funny that Governor John Nyagarama's PA is chairing Opening Tenders Committee. This is unlawful and punishable. An action should he taken," he said.
Nyagarama is currently facing a major crisis after sending home over 1,000 workers, who were allegedly employed without due diligence.
But in a rejoinder, Mr Abuga denied sitting in the committee despite photos making rounds on social media showing otherwise. Through a senior official who did not wish to be mentioned, he said that he had just passed by.
"There is no evidence that he chaired the meeting. You can't reach that conclusion by just using pictorials. That's a propagandist," he said.
The tender involves acquisition of two Sporting Utility Vehicles for the county government. One standard SUV, the bidders were suppose to pay Sh400,000 and another one, Sh200, 000.
