Kitutu Chache Member of Parliament Richard Onyonka and also the member of the National Assembly budget committee has hit out at members of parliament from Uasin Gishu County for absconding the public participation of the proposed 2019/20 budget.
No member of parliament from the region attended the meeting apart from the Uasin Gishu women representative Gladys Boss Sholei.
"It's is sad that we expected all the members of parliament to be in the meeting so that they may hear the problems raised by their electorates, they are nowhere to be seen," he said while addressing residents who attended the public participation for the budget-making process at the County Hall on Tuesday.
"They are the people who make the loudest noise concerning the prices of maize, subsidized fertilizers and yet they are not here to give their views so that the problem may be solved once and for all. How will we help them seriously," added Onyonka.
The members of parliament for Moiben Silas Tiren, Soy Caleb Kositany, Ainabkoi William Chepkut, Turbo Janet Sitienei, Kapserets Oscar Sudi and Kesses MP Swarup Mishra did not attempt the meeting.
Residents who attended the meeting condemned them for their actions for not putting the problems of the electorate at heart.
They also called on the budget committee to increase funds to the agricultural sector for farmers who have to deliver their produce to NCPB for them to be paid.
