Raila Odinga has addressed for the first time claims that public funds are being expended in the organisation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meetings.
Speaking on Sunday in an exclusive interview on NTV, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader rubbished the claims, saying they were propaganda being pushed by the media.
He said that the events were being done very cheaply as the people who were making their way to the meetings were taking care of their transportation.
"Those people who come there don't need to be transported. They come themselves...You say they have spent 10 billion. Who has spent those billions? Where is that billion coming from? It is not true This thing is being done very cheaply, " the ODM party leader said.
Politicians allied to the deputy president Dr William Ruto had claimed that public funds were being misused in the BBI meetings.
A section of politicians has demanded to know what is the source of the funds that have been used to organise the meetings.
The meetings have so far been held in 3 counties, the Kisii, Kakamega and Mombasa counties.
The next meeting is expected to be held in Kitui county in a week's time as the collection of public views continues space.
