The DP on Saturday visited Embu county on a development tour, in the company of a section of area leaders who lauded him as a hardworking man who deserves the presidency.

Area Senator Njeru Ndwiga stated that the DP has done a lot for this country, urging adding that his effort towards building the nation are clearly visible.

He urged Kenyans to reciprocate the same by electing him to office as President Uhuru Kenyatta's successor in 2022.

Similar remarks were echoed by Mbeere North MP Muriuki Njagagwa who claimed that the region will remain in support of the DP, terming him the most suitable contestant.

"We have thrown our weight behind Dr Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, we shall not retreat," he said, further bashing ODM leader Raila Odinga as an old man who should retire.

Others present were Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu), Cecily Mbarire (Nominated), Erick Muchangi (Runyenjes), Geoffrey Kingangi (Mbeere South).

All the leaders lashed out at Raila, Ruto's deemed rival in the race to statehouse, promising to stop any attempt from him to split the ruling Jubilee Party.

The region has been divided on supporting the DP lately, with a section opposed to his bid accusing him and his allies of engaging in early campaigns.
