This comes just a week after Hivisasa visited the scene and interviewed residents who had raised concerns about their safety due to the falling pole.

They had accused the company over laxity despite being aware of the problem.

Speaking to Hivisasa on Friday evening via phone, the KPLC Kisii Regional Sales Manager Mang'era Moronge said that they were actually not aware of the disaster in waiting until it was highlighted by the media.

"We fixed the pole last weekend and I can confirm it was really a dangerous situation. Our team landed there and I assure the residents they are safe now," he said.

Moronge who dismissed the allegation from residents that they had been contacted on several occasions said Kenyans should be vigilant and report such cases to the company's emergency team immediately.

"Let's avoid these blame games. To be sincere we hadn't received this case in our office. We always act immediately because we know the danger. Let our people report to us or visit our offices in Kisii town, they are always open to members of the public," he added.

The residents on Wednesday put KPLC to the task of visiting their power lines frequently.
