This comes amid claims that the Head of State could be eyeing another top executive slot, probably the Prime Minister, hence the push for constitutional amendments.

But speaking on Saturday, the lawmaker claimed that Uhuru personally told him that he will be slipping out of the political arena upon the expiry of his second term and final term.

He alleged that Uhuru made the remarks during the recent United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York city, where he (Mwaura) was among the leaders who accompanied him.

"The presidemt told us in America that he is not interested in a seat, only a legacy (President ametuambia kule Marekani hasimami na hataki kiti, kile anataka ni legacy)," he said.

He made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning.

The lawmaker claimed to have been told the same by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, whose four previous presidential bids have all been futile.

However, he added that he distrusts Raila's claim that he will not he taking another shot at the top seat judging by the pressure he is being subjected to by his allies.

"Raila told he he wont vie but I dont believe him because of the people close to him are pushing him (Raila aliniambia hasimami lakini simuamini kwa sababu wale watu wako karibu na yeye wanamsukuma)," he added.

Consequently, according to Mwaura the race will most likely be one between Raila and Deputy President William Ruto whose presidential bid is already in the public domain.
