Kisii Catholic Bishop Joseph Mairura has asked politicians not to ignore prayers while discharging their duties.
Mairura while speaking on Tuesday at St. Mary's Nyamagwa in Bobasi constituency, Kisii County said leaders should seek God's guidance while serving the electorates.
"I am appealing to leaders to prioritize prayers because through prayers leadership will be easier. Any leader who will ignore prayers is likely not to perform and thus he or she will be shown the door in 2022," he said.
The Bishop reiterated the need for elected leaders and those who lost during the August 2017 polls to embrace unity.
"Our people must be united no matter what. Politicians must join hands in preaching peace, unity and harmony among the people," he noted.
He urged the electorates to keep off politicians engaging in divisive politics with an aim of getting political farm.
"Selfish politicians chasing fame through divisive politics must not be condoned. Relevant authorities should take legal action against leaders who incite members of the public to cause mayhem," said Mairura.
Mairura added that members of the clergy should put the country into prayers for impunity to end.
