Members of the Kieleweke team in the Jubilee Party have fired more shots at Deputy President William Ruto, accusing him of sabotaging President Uhuru Kenyatta's rule.
Speaking at the ACK Mairungi Church in Kandara on Sunday, the team pledged to combat the DP who is allegedly creating discord in government.
Led by nominated MP Maina Kamanda, they proposed changes to the law, to hand the President more powers to enable him to fire the DP for insubordination.
Kangema MP Muturi Kigano and his Tiaty counterpart William Kamket said that plans are in place to tame the DP using a constitutional amendment.
“The Presidency is a symbol of national unity and any form of disregard amounts to gross misconduct. We are not taking lightly Ruto’s actions,” Kigano said.
On his side, Kamanda poked holes into Ruto's narrative that he is a son of a peasant, relegating the claims to a way of getting easy votes by riding on sympathy from Kenyans.
He added that the team is out to protect Uhuru from Ruto's actions, upon realizing that he is harbouring separate intentions from those of the President.
“We formed this team after realising that those elected to defend the President have been compromised and they are serving a different master. We remain steadfast as the foot soldiers of the president,” said Kamanda.
Kieleweke team has vowed to stop Ruto from becoming president in 2022.
