An angry man beat his wife after she allegedly consumed chang'aa on Monday at Getare village in Nyamira County.
Daniel Onchari claimed that his wife, Agnes Kemunto has been drinking chang'aa secretly.
"I have been suspecting her for drinking chang'aa for over two years.
"She usually consumes chang'aa during the day when I am not at home. I returned home after I fell sick at work only to find her drunk," he said.
Mr. Onchari said he beat her for consuming illicit brew contrary to his expectations.
"Personally I don't take alcohol. I attacked her for lacking respect to me. I will not live with her if she continues drinking chang'aa," he said.
Area assistant chief, Fred Gesaka confirmed the incident and said the woman was rescued by neighbors who responded to her screams.
"Kemunto sustained injuries on her forehead following the beating by her husband," he said.
The administrator warned residents against illicit brew business adding that culprits will be subjected to law enforcement officers.
