Defiant Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has laughed off recommendations by Senate PAC over alleged irregular sell of Sh1.5 billion Ruaraka land even as pressure mounted on him from his Nyamira backyard to resign.

Moses Kajwang led committee implicated Matiang'i, asking DCI and DPP to probe outspoken minister within shortest period.

Ex-Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire had earlier asked Matiang'i to show committment in fight against graft by stepping aside to allow investigations.

"He took oath of office, he's a church elder. If he's serious in what he claims to stand for, let him step aside for investigations. I dare him to uphold integrity. Let's stop playing politics," he said.

But a journalist, who spoke in confidence, says Matiang'i has already dismissed the report and vowed to stay put.

According to him, the land was regularly purchased by government, insisting that records show it's a private property.

"He says he's going nowhere. According to him the report will collapse even if senators pass it on Tuesday," said the journalist in confidence.

At Nyamira, a number of bloggers led by Kefa Onyinkwa, asked the state to also probe circumstances under which Matiang'i acquired a piece of land at Simbauti.

"He's a pretender. We know a piece of land to some farmers he grabbed. He operates with irredeemable impunity," he said.
