Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has urged all women across the country to join the Embrace Kenya women group.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV's Daybreak show, Passaris noted that the group was not formed for campaign purposes, but to promote peaceful coexistence in the country.
"Embrace Kenya is not about campaigning…we do not want any position and everybody is welcome to join (including women who are not in leadership today). We want to discuss peace," she said.
Reacting to Passaris' remark, lawyer Miguna Miguna claimed that the group has been funded by President Uhuru Kenyatta to campaign for 2022.
He further claimed that the president facilitates the group's movement around the country.
"These socialites don't have the most basic competence required to lie. First, Uhuru Kenyatta has clearly funded them, provided them with uniforms, transportation, accommodation and per diems that they often die for. Second, they are campaigning for 2022 and their re-elections," he tweeted.
The Embrace Kenya women group was founded recently. It comprises of women leaders from all sides of the political divide, and those not in politics.
So far, the group has visited Baringo, and Murang'a counties to spread the handshake message.
