Several leaders in the North Rift region have sent their messages of condolence to the family and friends of former world 400 m hurdles champion Nicholas Bett who died Wednesday morning following a road accident along Eldoret-Kapsabet road.

Led by Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, the leaders paid a glowing tribute to Bett who in 2015 became the first Kenyan to win gold for Kenya in the 400 m hurdles at the World Championships n Beijing, China.

"My deepest sympathies and a message of condolences to the family of the former World 400m hurdles champion Nicholas Bett who lost his life through a tragic road accident today in Nandi County...May the Almighty God comfort the family at this difficult moment. Rest In Peace our hero!" posted Governor Sang on his official Facebook page.
