Apart from the normal alcoholic drinks, other forms of alcohol do exist. We have methanol and ethanol that have different uses. Alcohol can be used as a fuel. Ethanol is a fuel that burns cleanly to form carbon dioxide and water. Notably, the use of ethanol as a fuel does not lead to a lot of pollution.
Alcohol can be used to produce methylated spirit, this is a mixture of small amounts of methanol. The spirit can be used in lamps and stoves. Additionally, the spirit can also be used to remove ink from non-porous surfaces and as a component of household cleaning products especially glass cleaners.
Ethanol is commonly used as a solvent where it can be used to dissolve organic compounds that are mostly insoluble in water.
Alcohol can be used to kill weeds such as poison ivy. When vodka is mixed with water and poured on the weed there is dehydration which eventually kills the weed.
On the other hand, wine can also be used on grilled meat by making it juicy and tender. Alcohol can also be used to kill the odor-bacteria that makes the feet to stink.
