A sombre mood engulfed the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary in Eldoret town on Thursday as the body of slain Moi University School of Medicine final year student Ivy Wangeci was being transported to her rural home ahead of burial.

Family members, fellow students and school of medicine fraternity converged at the facility to witness the body of the student who had expected to graduate this year transported.

The body has been lying at the mortuary following a Tuesday incident whereby her alleged lover, Naftali Kinuthia, hacked her to death.

The body of Ivy is expected to be transported to her parents home in Thika for burial.

Burial arrangements are underway and the family is yet to announce the burial date.
