Kisii Governor James Ongwae has strongly condemned a terror attack on Tuesday at Riverside Drive in Nairobi's Westlands area.
Ongwae said terrorists should not be condoned to kill innocent people.
"I strongly condemn the heinous and cowardly act to the innocent fellow Kenyans who were peacefully engaged in their activities. As a country, we have made remarkable efforts in ensuring we coexist safely and peacefully," he said.
The county boss added; "We must remain indivisible and this cowardly act should not jeopardize our course. On behalf of Kisii County Government and Kisii residents, I pray and stand with the affected families."
Ongwae challenged security officers to be vigilant always to keep off terrorists from the attacking innocent people.
He lauded the officers who responded quickly to rescue Kenyans who were held captive by the terrorists.
"I salute our security officers and other agencies for their sacrifices in the ongoing rescue mission. MAY GOD PROTECT AND BLESS KENYA," noted Ongwae.
In his briefing to the nation on Tuesday night, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i assured that the security team had taken control of the building.
