Ambitious Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny has stood grounds that Deputy President William Ruto is behind maize farming stalemate that had raised political temperatures in North Rift.

In a hard tackling interview on Tuesday at NTV, Kutuny wondered why Ruto's allies had not honoured invitation to the panel despite a confirmation that they would attend.

"First Ken (Mijungu) I requested that those countering my claims to come to the panel. I am disappointed that they are nowhere," he said, even as Mijungu confirmed that Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen was to attend.

An emotional Kutuny added: "They have chicked out because they know the truth. Even Caleb Kositany is another cartel who has been trading with Ruto in fertilizer."

In his rebuttal, Kutuny accused the DP of orchastrating maize farming stalemate, adding that he is the owner of Koilel Farm that has been implicated in the scandal.

The second term lawmaker dared Ruto to challenge his claims, adding that he was sure that Ruto will not 'dare' respond.

"Those responding on his behalf are cartels. He owns Koilel Farm which was paid over 20 million from the scandal. He has interest in maize farming. He won't respond."

Mr Ruto had remained mum over the brewing rebellion from his Rift Valley stronghold, only using proxies to respond.

At a past rally in Eldoret, Ruto asked maize farmers to abandon the business for avocado and macadamia, a move Kotuny insists is part of strategy to monopolise maize farming.

"We know Koilel Farm owns tracks of land in Congo. Asking farming to quit maize farming is part of the strategy to monopolise local market."
