A section of Nyamira residents have asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to change his mind on the 8 per cent VAT on fuel tax.
They claimed that Uhuru should put interests of Kenyans and not taxing Kenyans heavily.
"President Uhuru should care for poor Kenyans by dropping the fuel prices. 8 per cent fuel taxation is still unfair for common citizens especially those using kerosene for lighting," said Evans Onyona.
Bernard Otiba said the Jubilee government is only interested in making money by taxing Kenyans.
"It is sad that this is the way Jubilee government is transforming lives of poor citizens by imposing huge taxes on people," he said.
Another resident,Jared Onchari stated that MPs should frustrate the Head of State by opposing his proposal.
"All our hope is at the MPs now. Let them frustrate Uhuru by rejecting his new proposal because we are being subjected to a burden which we were not expecting," he said.
