Stanley Karanja, Naivasha East MCA in the Nakuru County Assembly, is a hilarious man.
He fondly and proudly calls himself the son of a single mother who beat all the odds to be where he is today.
To him, becoming an MCA, leave alone a Jubilee Majority Leader in the Nakuru County Assembly, was no small feat.
Karanja’s political star was however halted on the Eve of New Year as he announced that he could no longer continue serving as the Jubilee Majority Leader in Nakuru.
At the Apex Resort, he cited stress and health issues as the reason for his climbing down the political ladder.
His tone was reminiscent to that of former Devolution CS Anne Mumbi Waiguru when she was cornered by a robust opposition accusing her of overseeing wanton theft at the National Youth Service.
Overwhelmed by the negative coverage and mentions, Waiguru said her doctor had advised her to consider taking light duties. Citing health issues, she resigned.
Back to the county, ‘Mtoto wa single mother Karanja wa Mariamu’ is a man who exercised his mandate with passion.
Armed with a husky voice, Karanja’s political mark was felt in every meeting he spoke.
As he concentrates on his duties as an MCA, and probably lays the strategy to run for Naivasha MP come 2022, he is a political figure to watch in Nakuru politics.
