Speaking on Friday at Miruka in Nyamira County, the CS challenged youth not to shy away from pushing for their rights.

"I want to assure our youth in Kisii and Nyamira counties that I will push hard for them to get something to do to enable them to place food on the table. I'm championing for more Kisii and Nyamira youth to get jobs and those who have hit retirement age should retire in peace," he said.

Matiang'i appealed to youth not to accept to be used by local politicians who are only concerned about gaining political mileage and don't have the interests of the people at heart.

The no-nonsense CS urged elected leaders from Kisii and Nyamira counties to prioritise youth when it comes to offering job opportunities.

"Youth should not be exploited by selfish politicians who are out to get fame. There are well-educated youth in Kisii and Nyamira counties who need to get good jobs," he stated.

He warned youth from the region against venturing into drug abuse and committing crime saying whoever engages in illegal activities will carry their own cross.
