Mary Mong'are appeared before Chief Magistrate Josephat Kalo at a Nakuru Law Court on Thursday.

The court heard that on March 19, 2018, at her home at Fire Estate, Bondeni in Nakuru County, Mong'are allegedly smuggled and harboured 16 Tanzanian immigrants contrary to the law.

Mong'are however denied the charges.

In her mitigation, Mong'are sought to be released on reasonable bond terms saying the charges against her were misleading, stating that she was unaware of the presence of any illegal immigrants at her house.

In his ruling, Magistrate Kalo released the accused on a Sh3 million bond and a surety of the same amount, with an alternative of paying a cash bail of Sh1.5 million pending hearing of the matter on March 25, 2018.
