Deputy President William Ruto has been advised not to count on the support of Central Kenya voters as far as his 2022 presidential bid is concerned.
Ruto’s supporters in Uasin Gishu have questioned the loyalty of Mount Kenya voters to the deputy president, arguing they might abandon him in the upcoming polls.
According to a section of them, it is high time Ruto structured a good plan which will aid him in successfully wooing voters from other regions if he wants to occupy the house on the hill in 2022.
“The central region has always supported a presidential candidate of their own and the chances of them backing another candidate are minimal. In fact, the people of Mout Kenya region are likely to field their own presidential aspirant in 2022,” said Joseph Majanga, a loyal supporter of the DP in Eldoret.
“We have even seen some vital executive roles that are supposed to be performed by the deputy president being delegated to another cabinet secretary and that is why we are urging Ruto to play his cards well," said Linus Kimaru.
He, further argued that the DP has what it takes to clinch the country's top seat, adding that all he needs is to convince residents from other regions.
