Tamarind Group chief executive Jonathan Seex is dead.

Seex was among the 157  people who had boarded ill-fated Ethiopian Airlines that crashed on Sunday. 

The jet crashed 6 minutes after taking off at the Addis Ababa Airport. 

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has sent his message of condolence to the family of the deceased following the tragic incident

“RIP Jonathan Seex of the Tamarind Group and all passengers and crew of the ill-fated Ethiopian Airline flight. Our prayers are with the families,” he said through his official Twitter handle

The travel group also took to social media to share the news of his demise. 

"It is with immense shock and grief to inform you of the tragic news that Tamarind CEO Jonathan Seex was on the ill-fated Ethiopian Airlines flight. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, the Tamarind community and all the others who have suffered unfathomable losses," said the airline through its Facebook Page.

Tamarind runs a number of high-end hotels in the country. Some of the hotels are located in Nairobi and Mombasa

Kenya lost 32 citizens following the incident. 

Leaders and the general public continue to condole with the families of the victims of the tragic incident.

The Ethiopian government has announced that it is investigating the cause of the incident.
