Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has attacked the national government for failing to protect Kenyans against hunger and starvation.
Kabogo says it is shameful that at this era Kenyans are still grappling with starvation.
Speaking on Kememe FM on Monday, Kabogo accused the national and county governments of neglecting its citizens claiming that the national government has never taken the issue of drought seriously.
“The government has continuously and totally failed to protect its citizens from drought, hunger and starvation. What we are seeing happen in Turkana, Baringo and other counties are devastating and unacceptable,” the former Governor said.
Kabogo further hit out at the national government for allegedly denying the drought and hunger situation.
“It is unfortunate that the people Kenyans trust to save them can be so insensitive on what is happening in Turkana. You saw them denying that there is no Kenyan who died of hunger,” he said.
William Kabogo asked the government to get serious and address the drought situation in the country as it has all the required machinery to stop hunger.
“The leader especially those whose counties have been affected by hunger must get out of the office for failing to protect their citizens from starvation,” he said.
According to the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA), 13 counties among them Turkana and Baringo are facing hunger and starvation.
However, the government says it has taken measures to protect Kenyans against hunger and starvation.
On Saturday when flagging off relief food in Mandera, Deputy President William Ruto said that no Kenyan will die of hunger.
