A man who allegedly strangled Egerton University student to death over a love affair was on Wednesday arraigned before a Nakuru Court.

Alex Wanjau Kimani, 27, who appeared before principal magistrate Eunice Kelly faced charges of murdering Anisa Furaha Mwaguni.

He, however, could not take a plea as police sought 14 days to complete investigations.

He allegedly killed the varsity student after a short quarrel ensued between them.

The particulars of the charge are on January, 11 2019 at Tina Garden Hostels, Egerton Njoro, he killed Anisa Furaha Mwaguni, 26.

The body was found on January 15 at her room by the police after neighbors reported that she had been missing.

The neighbours also said they had heard the deceased quarreling with her boyfriend.

According to police, the body was covered with blanket and hidden under her bed.

Furaha was undertaking her Masters of Arts in Gender development.

A post mortem conducted on January 16 indicated that she was strangled to death.

The suspect was arrested by police on February 12 at Karunga, Nakuru where he was reportedly hiding.

He will appear in court on February 22, 2019 for plea taking.
