Interior Cabinet Secretary  Fred Matiang'i has down played claims he's the most preferred cabinet minister in President Uhuru Kenyatta's adminstration, adding that each minister has unique abilities to perform in their docket.

The fire brand minister was elevated by Uhuru to chair powerful National Development and Communication Cabinet Committee, which gives him opportunity to coordinate all government ministeries.

And in an interview with the Nation, Matiang'i insisted that he is just a helper, adding that all his colleagues, who also sit in the committee, perfectly understand his new roles and non has complained.

“This is certainly a useful mechanism to clarify, not to confuse; to coordinate, not to undermine. My new role was created to help, not to hinder; more importantly, to promote inter-ministerial coordination.

"Among the inter-ministerial matters, the coordination is required for removing difficulties, removing differences, overcoming delays, coordination in administrative action and coordination of policies,” he said.

He said there are no divisions within cabinet as reported by the media. It was said that a section of ministers allied to DP William Ruto had objected Matiang'i's new roles, claiming that it was a wider plot to undermine the DP.

“Our working relationship has tremendously improved if the 100 percent attendance of our weekly meetings is anything to go by,” he said.

And added: “If there are any imaginary divisions, then they are a creation of the media and those who seek to politicise everything. For us, we shall focus on delivering services to Kenyans."

A fortnight ago, Matiang'i accompanied the president to Gusii where he pledged to work and deliver for government in his new position.
