Renowned lawyer Miguna Miguna has attacked President Uhuru Kenyatta over his plan to take with him former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to China to 'negotiate' Sh350 billion loan for extension of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
In a tweet, Miguna noted that carrying Odinga to China for negotiation of the deal was a waste of public resources.
"It is theft of public resources for Uhuru Kenyatta to carry Raila Odinga to China purportedly to "negotiate for an SGR loan".
"Raila is not the cabinet secretary or PS for Treasury or Transport. The SGR's cost is already hyper-inflated. Kenyans want jobs and food; not SGR," he tweeted.
Speaking in Kisumu on Saturday, Odinga disclosed that he will accompany the President to Beijing, China next week.
Odinga told residents of Sondu area in Kisumu County that the trip will seek to solicit for a loan for the extension of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Naivasha to Kisumu.
"I will be part of the delegation that will accompany the President to the Asian country next week. The new SGR line will extend from Naivasha to Narok, Bomet, Sondu and finally Kisumu," Odinga was quoted by the Nation.
He will accompany the Head of State to China in his capacity as the African Union's High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa.
