A police officer who was reported missing following an Al-Shabaab attack has been found alive.
Speaking on Wednesday, Wajir County police boss Stephen Ngetich said the officer, who went missing on Saturday, after their vehicle ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), was found by locals in Konton area.
Ngetich said his officers were informed by members of the public of the whereabouts of the missing officer.
According to the police boss, the officer was later taken to Wajir County Referral Hospital for medical attention.
“The officer who went missing after the Saturday grenade attack has been found alive and he is receiving treatment at a Wajir hospital,”he said as quoted by Nation.
The missing officer was among eleven Administration Police Officers who were on patrol on Saturday before they ran into an IED.
During the incident, seven officers lost their lives after their vehicle ran over the explosive device planted by suspected Al-Shabaab militia between Kharof Harar and Konton centre.
Two officers sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to Nairobi for specialised treatment.
