Ijara MP Sophia Abdi Noor has asked politicians in Garissa to stop taking sides in the ongoing investigations into former Finance Executive Idriss Mukhtar attempted murder.
Speaking in Ijara town on Saturday, Noor said that it will be dangerous if politicians take sides in the sensitive matter that is under investigations.
She said that the tag of war between politicians and elders over the attempted murder could make things worse.
“We should remain calm and patient and allow the police time to do their investigations,” she said.
Noor said that some statements made by politicians and elders could spark animosity among the people.
She said that police have the machinery to unravel the mystery behind the attempted murder.
A section of elders has been accusing Garissa Township MP Aden Dule of allegedly trying to defend Governor Ali Korane who was quizzed over the attempted murder.
The elders allege a plot to cover up investigations.
Duale has, however, refuted the claims terming them malicious.
Investigations into Mukhtar’s murder are still going on with two prime suspects in police custody.
Mukhtar’s family has been raising concerns over the slow pace of investigations especially after a key suspect, David Mwai, committed suicide in police cells.
