The current phase two eviction in Mau comes barely a month after the first eviction which saw several families leaving the Mau forest to which Sigey Arap Bett and Company Advocates wrote to the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC) terming the evictions from the Mau Forest was contrary to Article 7 of the Rome Statute.

The Mau eviction has been widely politicized as both leaders from the Kalenjin and Maasai community have blamed each other for the recent clashes which have left many with injuries with others dying.
