Two suspects are in police custody having been accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Shauri Yako Estate in Homa Bay County
The duo is also accused of unsuccessfully trying to defile the minor before resorting to slicing her genitals with a blade.
The incident reportedly happened at around 10 pm on Saturday evening when the class 8 pupil was reportedly heading to the lavatories at the time of the incident before the suspects pounced on her.
According to the victim's mother, the men reportedly stifled the girl's attempts to alerting neighbours by blocking her mouth and holding her neck.
She added that they then carried her to a nearby bush, maximizing on the darkness resulting from a power outage that night to undertake the crime.
They escaped into the darkness when one of the neighbours who was heading to the bathroom approached the scene of the crime, she told the Citizen Digital.
She claimed that one of the suspects slit the victim's genitals with a razor in an effort to penetrate to her genitals.
The displeasing act was confirmed by Homa Bay County Police Commander Marius Tum stating that the two accomplices are in police custody.
The girl is said to be recuperating at the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital.
This comes merely a month after a couple was found dead in their house in the same Estate.
The two who were presumed to have committed suicide were found foam oozing out of their mouths as reported by Citizen Digital.
Police Officers have launched investigations ever since.
