The Kenya African National Union (KANU) party has picked a fight with Deputy President over his latest remarks.
Speaking when he hosted a delegation from Busia and Bungoma counties on Wednesday, the DP said that he is banking on his development record to realize his 2022 presidential bid.
The DP was speaking at his home in Sugoi, Turbo constituency in Uasin Gishu county.
KANU, through its Secretary General Nick Salat has poured cold water on the purported track record, claiming that Ruto has nothing to show for his 7 year stay in office as the Deputy President.
Speaking to the Friday Nation, Salat claimed that Ruto has instead been spending his time dishing out money on different occasions, forgetting his mandate.
“What has he done to ensure that lives of Kenyans are improved apart from dishing hand-outs?" Salat posed.
The independence party which was initially allied to the ruling Jubilee Party has since taken a different stand.
This seems to be a result of the growing drift between Ruto and the party leader Gideon Moi.
Moi, also the Baringo Senator, has been engaged in a fight of words with the DP in what appears to be an ongoing supremacy battle for the Rift Valley kingpin seat.
And though Ruto's presidential ambition is already in the public domain, Moi who has also hinted at challenging him in the race remains non committal on his actual plans.
