Just hours after Education Cabinet Secretary visited Nyanza region, three more schools were set ablaze under mysterious circumstances.
By Tuesday, at least 10 schools from the region had been closed following fire breakout menace that has reportedly destroyed property worth millions.
At Kisii School, legendary Wire House dormitory was set on fire at around 8pm with reports indicating that nothing was salvaged.
A teacher who spoke in confidence said: "It was set by students because there have been anxiety over World Cup matches. They wanted to watch semi finals but were denied access."
The institution's BOM chair Patrick Nyagusia said property of unknown value was destroyed in Nyanza's newest National School.
"The dormitory known as Wire house was destroyed and nothing was salvaged. However, the disaster team managed to put it off."
In Kisumu, another school, Oloo Gumbe, was also set ablaze as fire menace continued to spread in schools across Nyanza hours after the Kisii School tragedy.
But even more curious, a teacher, Jones Ombaga, reported another fire at Thurdibuoro Secondary school in Kisumu around the same town.
At Nyamira, Kenya Industrial Estate also caught fire in the late evening even as the county disaster team struggled to put the fire off.
