Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has revealed that he is among the Kenyans who were supporting the Croatian national team in the concluded 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.
The one-month long tournament came to an end on Sunday, in a clash pitting the Croatians and their French counterparts, in a contest that saw France carry the day after thrashing the opponent 4 goals to two.
In an interview on KTN a few minutes after the event, the Senator hailed the Croatians for their resilience throughout the tournament, but acknowledged France's victory as well.
"I am one of those who were supporting Croatia because they have a good story and have maintained a good game throughout the tournament," he said.
"It's unfortunate that they lost but congratulations to the French who also deserved to carry the trophy based on their final performance," he added.
Sakaja, however, downplayed this year's edition of the contest, noting that it was of a lower quality as compared to earlier tournaments.
He pointed out that the game lacked the touch that such had in the past, stating that most of the goals were silly and not worth congratulations.
"This year's final was of a lower quality as most of the goals were rather silly," added the lawmaker.
