The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is not in a position to conduct free and fair polls, Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi.
While responding to questions from the members of the general public, Mudavadi said that he has no confidence in the commission and wants it reconstituted with immediate effect.
The Former Vice President believes that the commission lacks people who can work without fear and favor. He noted that the rot in the commission has compromised with service provision.
Mudavadi, who has been very vocal on matters of national interest, said that it is clear that the commission cannot meet the needs of the electorate, adding that there is the need to reconstitute the same.
He also said that it is only through reforms that the commission will deliver its mandate to the electorate.
“I reached long ago that IEBC in its current state is irredeemable and a national security risk. As long as IEBC remains dysfunctional, there will never be electoral justice in Kenya and the outcome of elections will always be contentious and a security threat to the nation," he said, as quoted by Daily Nation.
He also said that he will not bow to pressure as far as highlighting issues that affect the taxpayer are concerned.
Mudavadi said that he will be last man standing when it comes to criticizing the government projects as well as commissioned tasked with different roles.
