Police officers in Thika West on Tuesday arrested 9 bhang peddlers and over 110 rolls of bhang were recovered during the crackdown.
Thika West OCPD Willy Simba, said police acted following a successful tip-off from members of the public.
"Police were informed by embers of the public that the nine most wanted bhang dealers have been smoking bhang in public. We laid a trap and arrested the criminals at Kiandutu slums. The suspects will be arraigned in court on Thursday," he said.
He said the peddlers have been responsible for selling bhang to school going children, especially during a long holiday in the area.
Simba lauded members of the public for their continued cooperation with police officers to end crime in the region.
"The public is doing a good job informing security officers those engaging in illegal businesses. We have been hunting the notorious bhang dealer by the name George Njuguna who is among those who were arrested and was found with 90 rolls. Police will not rest until bhang business ends in Thika and the entire Kiambu county," he assured.
The OCPD said other suspects who were arrested include; Stephen Maina, Bernard Kiswani, Muhidin Kassim, Jiresh Hussein and Mohamed Kalie.
