Nine former students of Masinga boys Secondary School in Machakos County have been charged in court for burning the dormitory.
The nine students who are now in various universities were arraigned before Kathiani Magistrate court following an arson carried out in 2014.
The Kithimani magistrate court slapped the 9 with a destruction fee of Sh60,000. Speaking during the ruling the Gilbert Sikwe read the charges on Wednesday.
"The nine personnel arraigned in court today on July 29, 2014 are accused of taking part in burning the Syokimau dormitory," said Sikwe
The nine students, some who are in college and still studying will also be in juvenile for 2 years.
This comes at a time when numerous schools have been burnt down with blames being pointed out to the new rules.
The cabinet Secretary of Education Fred Matiang'i has however been adamant that the government will not compensate schools after arson but the students will incur the cost.
