Nine people were on Friday night injured when supporters of top contenders for Turbo Parliamentary seat Kevin Okwara and Janet Rotich clashed.

Reports indicate the two groups engaged when they met while on campaign trail at Chepsaita in Ng'enyilel ward.

They threw stones at each other with both groups accusing their rivals for the incident.

Among those injured were the campaign managers for both candidates.

Phillip Chumo, Okwara's campaign manager was reported to have been treated at the Racecourse Hospital in Eldoret following the injuries he sustained.

Both Okwara, vying for the seat on Jubilee ticket and Rotich, an independent candidate have recorded a statement with the police.

The two are seen as the frontrunners for the seat, with Okwara, an Eldoret businessman enjoying support from the non-Kalenjins while Rotich is favorite among the Kalenjins.

Turbo which is the rural home to Deputy President William Ruto is one of the most cosmopolitan constituencies in Uasin Gishu county.
