Nine musicians are feared dead following a boat accident in Lake Victoria.

According to Nation, Nyangoma assistant deputy commissioner Angeline Were confirmed the incident.

The boat which was ferrying 17 artistes of the Boyieta Wuod Awasi music group capsized on its way to the Ndenda Island in Siaya County from Lihunda beach in Bondo.

By press time, eight members of the band were rescued.

The accident occurred at 9 am  in Central Sakwa Ward in Nyangoma Division.

It’s not clear what caused the accident.

The team was expected to perform at a concert in Ndenda.
