Despite lengthy meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday, Deputy President William Ruto seems to be determined with attacks on his perceived political opponent Raila Odinga.
At a function in Nairobi on Thursday, Uhuru insisted that the fight against corruption should not be politicised, asking those opposing it to 'find something useful to do during weekends'.
"Where do you want those who didn't vote for me to go? They are going nowhere. They must be served. Corruption is a vice and we must fight it. Stop moving around in social functions fighting the unity. Find something useful to do," Uhuru told a gathering.
The unity between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga seems to have rocked Jubilee, with DP Ruto openly showing dissatisfaction with the changing political dynamics within the country.
At Kisii on Saturday, a spirited Ruto claimed there were some hidden agenda in the handshake, adding that he's not 'too dumb not to see what's going on'.
"Don't think am stupid. If it's about development, let's do it with conscious. You cannot use greetings to intimidate me. I am ready for the battle. I know they are cooking something but we are ready," said Ruto.
Dr Ruto has been blowing hot and cold in handshake politics despite President Uhuru Kenyatta insisting that the partnership with the opposition has helped him transform the country.
At the function, Ruto also insisted that the fight against corruption can only yield fruits if it's objective, another contradiction from his boss, Uhuru Kenyatta, who has vowed to continue with the crack down.
