Addressing media in Nakuru, the elders said the MP does not fit in the shoes of such a leader.

"As Kikuyu council of elders, we do not recognize MP Ngunjiri as the Kikuyu community spokesperson neither do we recognize such a position," said the caucus' chair Ndung'u Gaithuma.

The elders have also slammed those who oversaw the exercise terming such individuals as fake elders.

Led by the national chairman, the elders said they only recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta as the spokesperson of the community after he was installed in a ceremony held on November 30, 2012, at Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.

Gaithuma also refuted reports that there are drift and leadership wrangles within the council.
