It is now good news for Garissa residents as World Food Program (WFP) steps in to battle food insecurity in the region that has been battling with drought for decades.
This emerged after the Deputy Governor Abdi Dagane engaged officials from WFP officials in his office on Wednesday.
Led by Ms Brenda Began, Senior Director of global food agency, the WFP officials briefed the deputy county boss on the plans they were working on to curb the perennial problem of food insecurity.
Early November this year, the organisation under the approved Kenya Country Strategic Plans signed a deal with Governor Ali Korane.
While signing the agreement, WFP assured the county government of their support in implementing food support program following an initial assessment report compiled by Agriculture CEC Issa Yarrow.
The Wednesday meeting was attended by Agriculture CEC Issa Yarrow, County Secretary Abdi M. Ali among other other high profile county officials.
