As the race for 2022 picks momentum, the second term MP has found himself in an awkward position with a section of locals dismissing him as a 'project' of Mr Nyagarama, an ODM governor.

But the Wiper MP on Monday at Nyangoge said he will fight on his way to the top in 2022, adding that he fears nobody in the race that is likely to be extremely competitive.

"I am nobody's project. I am not a newcomer in the game. It's absurd that some cowards wants to link me to the current administration. I will fight on my own to the top," he said.

Mr Momanyi added: "I only require the goodwill from the people of Nyamira to serve them. But that doesn't mean that I shouldn't talk to all leaders. There is nothing wrong with that honestly."

Governor John Nyagarama has been accused of among others, habouring clanism, maladministration, nepotism and grand corruption by his critics, a reason why any candidate allied to him could struggle.

Mr Momanyi is likely to compete with Timothy Bosire of ODM, Dr James Gesami, Walter Nyambati, Joseph Kiangoi among other bigwigs in Nyamira politics.
