Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has sent a stern warning to people he alleges are working to block Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Ichung’wa claims that some people are determined to push DP Ruto out of the 2022 presidential race for their own selfish interests.
Speaking to Kikuyu Town residents on Monday, Ichung’wa said that no amount of intimidation will stop DP Ruto from contesting for presidency in 2022.
He said that they are determined to ensure Ruto ascends to power in 2022.
“DP Ruto remains our president in 2022 and there is no debate about it,” he said.
Ichungw’a claimed that some politicians and top government officials are hatching a serious plot to taint DP Ruto's name.
“We know them, the same people who fixed DP Ruto at the International Criminal Court (ICC) are again plotting his downfall but they will not succeed,” he said.
Ichung’wa also said that Mt Kenya’s support for DP Ruto cannot be compromised.
The vocal Jubilee MP asked DP Ruto to continue his development projects assuring him that Kenyans will vote for him in 2022.
The 2022 succession debate is creating jitters in Jubilee party with claims of a looming fallout among top leaders.
A section of politicians allied to DP Ruto are alleging a well-orchestrated plot to ‘finish’ Ruto’s 2022 bid.
A Jubilee parliamentary group meeting that was planned for Tuesday to iron out issues in the party was cancelled on Monday.
Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju said that there was no crisis to warrant a PG meeting.
