Edwin Oginga claimed that he was shot on Friday night at Ratta, Kisumu County after he and his male friend denied the officer a chance to make advances at the lady.

He said that the three of them were having a good time at a local bar when the officer came in and tried his luck. However, they rebuffed him, which made him angry.

The 32-year-old man told the Standard that the officer later left the joint and went outside where he made phone calls before shooting Oginga three times.

He said that the officer shot him as he rode home, and is now demanding legal protection to enable him to pursue the case and have the culprit subjected to the law.

The incident was confirmed by Kisumu County Police Commander Benson Maweu.

However, the police boss gave a completely different account, claiming that the victim was part of an armed gang that had confronted the officer.
