Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has warned against the demolition of Weston hotel in Nairobi.
Speaking to journalists in Eldoret town on Monday, Sudi said the after-effect of the demolition will not be light.
He claimed that the demolition of the hotel and fight against corruption is targeting someone. He, however, did not disclose the name of the persons being targeted.
The vocal MP went on to threaten that they will release names of corrupt persons once the hotel is brought down in the ongoing demolition of properties on public land.
The hotel is linked to Deputy President William Ruto.
“I saw recently they wanted to demolish Weston Hotel. I want to tell Kenyans and demolishers that before the arrival of the day to demolish the hotel we will release a list. There are people living on government land as if it theirs,” said Sudi, a close ally of the DP.
The statement comes weeks after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko said he won’t spare the hotel if it is found on riparian land.
Sonko took to social media and posted: “Even Weston; My Buru Buru Casurina coco beach plot; Taj Mall and many other buildings shall not be spared if found to be on riparian or public land.”
The impending demolition of DP Ruto’s hotel has continued to elicit mixed reactions from different factions. A section of leaders believes the move is ill-intended and ill-timed.
They argue that there is a plot to finish Ruto as he seeks to ascend to power in 2022.
